Bleaching Earth Oil Refining Plant
A vegetable or mineral oil refining plant using bleaching earth / clay to remove colour, odours, and impurities — improving final oil quality for food-grade or industrial applications.
Project Concept
A factory for refining vegetable or mineral oils using bleaching earth / clay: removing colour, odours, and impurities; improving final oil quality; suitable for crude or recycled oils.
Project Overview
Oil refining using bleaching earth (clay) is a core quality-improvement process that converts crude or used oils into pure oils ready for food-grade or industrial use. The technology is simple, reliable, and has significant economic and environmental impact.
Main Components
Key equipment and units that make up the production line
Oil Feed Tank
- Receives crude oil
- Side heating to 60–80 °C
Bleaching Tank – Oil & Clay Mixing Reactor
- Add Bleaching Earth / clay at 1–5%
- Continuous mixing 30–60 minutes
- Mechanical agitator
Filter Press Unit
- Removes spent clay after bleaching
- Fine filtration for clear oil output
Optional Deodorisation Unit
- Removes any residual odours
- Partial vacuum to ensure oil purity
Product Storage Tanks
- Tank for final bleached oil
- Tank for spent clay / waste
Operating Cycle
Cycle duration: Batch: 4–6 hours; Continuous: runs to production capacity
- 1Load crude oil into feed tank and heat to 60–80 °C
- 2Dose bleaching earth into bleaching reactor (1–5%)
- 3Mix continuously for 30–60 minutes
- 4Pass through filter press to remove spent clay
- 5Optional deodorisation stage under partial vacuum
- 6Collect refined, bleached oil into product tank
